Melika Golgoon

Biography

Originally from Iran, I am currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Systems Engineering at The University of Texas at Dallas. I followed my Bachelor's deree in Industrial Engineering at the K. N. Toosi University of Technology, one of the best universities in Iran. During my undergraduate studies, I learned coding in Python and successfully did some personal projects. I audited several courses from our Master's and PhD programs as well as collaborated with graduate students to model and implement industry-driven problems in "GAMS" and "Cplex." Doing so, I was able to find my interest and choose Systems Engineering to pursue in general and Control Systems in particular. Lastly, I am Eagerly pursuing graduate studies in System's Engineering to acquire sufficient knowledge and experience as well as build a productive career in teaching and applied research.

Course: Facilities Planning and design (Spring 2020)

Considering a product of an airport equipment manufacturing company, "Saramad Co."—that is—an airport trolley, and planning a facility layout for the very product. In order to do so, I analyzed the material flow and calculated the number of machines, human resources, and the area of production departments, according to factory costs and production volume. Eventually, I present the layout by using the pattern-matching algorithm.
